Project description

This wind energy project is located in Loire-Atlantique, near the Ille-et-Vilaine border, across the towns of Mouais and Sion-les-Mines.

It will include six wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6 MW. At full operation, the farm will generate enough electricity to power about 30,000 people, cutting CO2 emissions by around 40,000 tons annually.

The project supports the region’s shift toward renewable energy and plays a key role in reducing carbon emissions.

Convinced that collaboration and co-creation with the public are essential to the successful development of its projects, Renner Energies has chosen to launch a voluntary public consultation to engage in dialogue with local stakeholders.

: It's all relative!

In 2023, wind power generated 11.4% of the electricity consumed in France—enough to cover the annual electricity use (excluding heating) of over 10.5 million households.

It’s true that a wind turbine doesn’t produce electricity constantly and can’t meet consumer demand on its own. But that’s also true for every form of energy production: solar panels generate more around midday, hydropower depends on water availability, and nuclear and thermal plants need to shut down regularly for maintenance, which can last several months.

No single energy source can guarantee supply security by itself—but together, they form the energy mix!

Like most human activities, wind turbines do have an impact on birds and bats, but it's not unchecked. Strict safeguards are in place to ensure that turbines can only be installed if their impact on biodiversity is deemed acceptable.

Before construction, studies are carried out to identify local bird and bat species and analyze their behavior. This information is used to choose turbine locations that avoid sensitive areas—such as migration corridors or nesting sites for breeding birds.

Turbines must be placed outside these zones, and mitigation systems can be installed—such as curtailment during periods of high bat activity or deterrent systems to keep birds away.*
