Permit granted for two wind turbines in Tongeren-Oost
We are pleased to announce that we have received a new environmental permit for two wind turbines in Tongeren-Oost in Flanders.
The wind farm will have a maximum capacity of 7.2 MW and will generate approximately 17,000 MWh per year, equivalent to the energy consumption of 5,000 households. The choice of location and environmental impact were thoroughly studied to ensure that the wind farm fits into its surroundings in a sustainable way.
As with any of our projects, we are keen to find a solution that is beneficial to the environment and the local stakeholders. Part of the electricity produced will be consumed directly by the company Lecoque eggs located along one of the wind turbines.
The Tongeren-Oost wind farm not only supports the local economy, but will also contribute to regional energy objectives. The expected energy production of the project will result in a reduction of CO₂ emissions by about 4,200 tonnes per year. This supports the objectives of the Flemish Energy and Climate Action Plan to reduce CO₂ emissions in Flanders by 40% by 2030.
Renner Energies wishes to involve local residents in the project in the form of citizen participation. More information on this will be provided by Renner Energies during information events later this year.
The wind farm could be operational by the end of 2024. The website will be regularly updated with the necessary information about the project. As always, Renner Energies' teams are ready to answer all your questions about the project.
